PIHMS is the only training institute in New Zealand that has a simulated hotel campus operating like an actual hotel.
The training we provide in Food and Beverage, Kitchen, Front Office and Housekeeping helps you develop and practice these key skills. Our programmes are designed to ensure you have the right mix of ability and skill for what is expected in the workplace or by industry.
Additionally, this allows students to grow and develop the necessary interpersonal skills needed to succeed. You can’t get this from classroom based learning.

The four departments in which you will undertake operational training in (Food & Beverage, Kitchen, Front Office and Housekeeping), provide a variety of different skills. However, there are many common benefits from the training you receive in each department, these include:
Communication is a huge part of the hospitality, hotel and tourism industry.
Without having the opportunity to communicate in a professional environment, it can be difficult to get it right.
That’s why at PIHMS you don’t just study communications in text books and classrooms we create real life situations so you can use your communication skills and put them to the test!
By dealing with customer complaints in front office, leading a team in housekeeping, or ensuring your guests are satisfied in the restaurant, you are conquering your communication skills with real life training in the PIHMS hotel campus.
Everyone has a different style, whether you are an extrovert, introvert or somewhere in between, you will be able to develop your communication skills/ approach to become an effective communicator. This will help you significantly in your career.
Leadership experience can be hard to gain, especially when you haven’t had the opportunity.
That’s why at PIHMS, you gain actual leadership experience and skills in a commercial Hotel environment without any prior experience. This will help you progress in your career and grow as a person.
