This morning, PIHMS had the pleasure of hosting the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce, featuring Hon. Nicola Willis, the Minister of Finance.
This exclusive event provided our Year 1 students with a valuable opportunity to experience a different service style. Each student took on the responsibility of managing a table, ensuring that all guests were attended to throughout the event. Our Year 1 kitchen students also faced the challenge of preparing breakfast items for the event. While, our baristas had their skills tested as they efficiently fulfilled numerous coffee orders for each table. The entire process was supervised by their Food Service Management instructors, Mr. Jason and Mr. Kraemer. Feedback from the attendees highlighted the quality of the coffee prepared by our students.


“The Year 1s did a phenomenal job” remarked Mr. Jason.
Mr. Jason shared that Hon. Nicola Willis, Minister of Finance had high praise for the students, stating, “The students looked fantastic, their grooming was impeccable. They carried themselves with confidence, always wearing smiles, and they moved through the restaurant seamlessly; wouldn’t have noticed they were even there.”
High level events like this ensure the caliber of PIHMS students always exceeds industry expectations, while at the same time giving our students exposure to real world experiences. Feedback from Mr. Jason noted that attendees remarked on our students’ hospitality, The Chamber of Commerce organisers were particularly impressed by the outstanding service delivered.
Their performance received high praise from the Minister ensuring PIHMS students remain front and center at the Highest level.
