This is New Zealand’s flagship Hotel Management Masters programme for achieving success at senior leadership level.

Our Masters is designed for students who already have a degree and want to either start or further their career in New Zealand and globally.

Become an expert in your chosen field

During this Masters degree you will be required to produce a comprehensive thesis focusing on your chosen field within the hotels/hospitality industry. This will assist you in gaining expertise, allowing you to specialize in this area of work when you graduate.

Specialisation Areas

Specialisation areas include: Marketing, Digital Marketing, Management, Human Resources, Food and Beverage, IT, Front Office and Rooms Division.

Being a hotel, hospitality or tourism professional means being able to assess different situations and make effective decisions quickly, with a focus on your guests experience.

The PIHMS Masters programme will prepare you with the latest business/management practices and skills to allow you to create an environment that provides an exceptional experience for your guests. You will also acquire the leadership, communication, critical thinking, analytical and marketing skills required in many different businesses in New Zealand and globally.

Learn by doing in our Hotel Campus

PIHMS is a fully operating simulated hotel campus.

Operational training

Students learn in the PIHMS hotel campus for part of their training. Gain an understanding of how the different departments within the hotel operate and function.

Guaranteed paid Hotel job

As part of the Masters programme, PIHMS finds you a guaranteed hotel job so you can have a full time hotel job while you work on your Masters Thesis. This also ensures you have the right New Zealand work experience and industry contacts before you graduate.

Student life

Student life is all about working hard to set up your career and future life, but most importantly enjoying yourself while doing it.

Accommodation

PIHMS accommodation is available and guaranteed for all Masters students who require it.

Accommodation is $250 per week for Masters students when staying nine months or longer. This includes all meals seven days a week – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Learn more about accomodation at the PIHMS Campus.

Notes:

All fees are in New Zealand dollars and are inclusive of GST. We recommend paying via electronic bank transfer. We can also take EFTPOS or credit card payment. PHMS does not accept cash as a form of payment.

Personal expenses, such as laundry, are not included in the fees. We suggest that approximately $50—$80 per week is appropriate to cover personal expenses. Students on their Paid Industry Placement will need to budget for travel, accommodation and living expenses.
